LOUISVILLE, Ky. (March 20, 2017) – When Air Force One swooped over the crowd of thousands of protesters outside Freedom Hall in Louisville, there was a roar of disapproval that surpassed the noise of the sound of the jet.
Kentuckians had gathered to resist Trump’s health care plan, which will strip away coverage from millions of people while giving huge tax breaks to corporations and wealthy Americans. Kentuckians had gathered to protest the fact that the president has a budget that adds 54 more billion dollars to defense spending, yet eliminates funding to 19 public service and anti-poverty programs (which combine for $3 billion a year). Kentuckians had gathered to show the world that, despite the fact Trump won in the commonwealth, we don’t all support his destructive policies.
Kentuckians like Sam Adams of Henry County shared their messages to Trump. His sign said it perfectly: this plan kills Kentuckians. The president’s plan will cost lives. We must stand for affordable health care for all.
Help us persist. Help us keep up the fight. Please join the roar of resistance with a contribution today.
